I made a special sign to hang in the window. In case you can't read it in the picture (tinted windows!), here's what it says: snacks...$34, hotels...$450, gas...too big of a number to fit on this sign, memories of a cross country road trip...PRICELESS!

Dad took a picture of mom and I before we got behind the wheel. Of course, when we opened up the back of the car, several packed items came tumbling out so we had to do some repacking!

Once we finally got going, this crazy guy kept following us. Oh wait, I know that goofy grin anywhere...it's my dad! :)

After a long day of driving, over 650 miles through Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky, we arrived in Louisville, Kentucky. I tried to take a picture of the Welcome sign as we were driving into the state, but it was too blurry. I like this one with Kentucky on the oil tank and the "No U turn" sign. I guess it means there is no turning back now on our trip!

Mom just had to get one of me next to the welcome center sign. Back again in the state where I was born...33 years later! I got to hear the story of how my parents drove 60 miles from Indiana to Louisville so dad could be there to see me come into the world. Even though I have never lived in Kentucky, I certainly think I live up to the slogan of the state, "unbridled spirit!"

Tomorrow we will spend a full day here. First stop will probably be Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. This state is the horse capital of the world. I can tell this is true because on our drive up we saw so many miles of fences and horses!

I thought you meant you lived up to the slogan "Welcome Center," and I wasn't sure what to say, but then you clarified so I am ok now.
I am pretty sure you spelled Kentucky wrong in your title. It is spelled with an "e" not "iii". I just wanted you to be aware of your spelling mistake- considering you are 2 teachers!
Also, I think "Yee Haw" is one word.
Dear Mrs. Milhomme,
This is Anumeha and I will be your new student. It is fun reading about your cross country trip. Let me know which place you liked the best.
Love,
Anumeha
Mrs. Milhomme,
My mom and I have looked at all of the pictures and your trip looks very cool. I miss you a lot and hope to see you in the fall. Love, Emma Martin
