A change in plans...

After touring the Old West Museum, we took a terrific trolley tour of the historic town of Cheyenne. Our tour guide was great and told us all sorts of stories. He showed us one house where they know a duel took place between two cowboys. The duel probably happened around 100 years ago, but several years ago a woman was raking in her yard, and she raked up a pearl handled pistol! Talk about living history!

They were also offering free wagon rides next to where we got on the trolley.

Across the street there was a giant store called The Wrangler. Apparently they have been outfitting cowboys for a very long time! Mom wanted to buy some boots, but when she saw how expensive they were she settled for buying my brother a belt buckle!

After the tour, we went and sat in the area in front of the train depot. They were giving a free concert. As we sat listening to the music, mom said, "It's too bad we can't stay for the rodeo tomorrow." A light bulb went off over my head, and I told her I could make it work! I mean how can you come to Frontier Days and not go to the rodeo! She was worried that she should not have opened her mouth.

We headed to dinner at the Plains Hotel, a beautiful old hotel, and I started mapping things out on the calendar. While we were eating, Butch Cassidy came and chatted with mom. He looks serious, but he was really nice. And guess what...he's a Red Sox fan, and he goes to Fenway every year! Even in Wyoming, the Sox are loved.

After dinner, our first priority was to find a hotel room for Saturday night. It wasn't easy, but after going into 4 different places, I finally found a room. Luckily, someone had canceled! Then we headed to Frontier Park to buy our tickets! I bought two tickets to the rodeo and 2 tickets to the Taylor Swift/ Rascal Flatts concert. It was going to be a full Saturday!
